It is a good habit when you keep your environment clean and certainly better manners when you help others to maintain cleanliness.
But when put painful efforts to clean for others’ mess then without doubt that is the best example of one’s strong conviction to Swatch Bharat Abhiyan!
This is what five champs from Malpani Greens demonstrated, a perfect example of rising to the occasion – a management lesson on leadership and change.
Nimesh, Shaurya, Aahan, Kartikey & Ronil impressed me this morning when they individually and collectively completed a task which I think even grown-up adults at times, would struggle to perform – unconditionally committing to keep the society clean.
So this is what happened when someone (we don’t know yet) used the wet mud from the plant pots to draw the graffiti with fingers on the walls of the pot, a horrible art indeed. I spotted them and requested not to spoil it then they said that they haven’t done it but happily agreed to clean it. I was surprised when they quickly took ownership without thinking much. What was amazing is that they all simultaneously aligned to work together to clean the dirty artwork.
It was a fascinating scene and a good paradigm shift for me. Initially, I was expecting they may not agree but here they did something that I call – leaving their comfort zone.
Just like how a normal human being responds to change – initially, they all denied, then they all resited but finally accept to take decisive actions.
I can’t help but see the management principles in action. Here is my quick summary of their roles –
1. The Initiator – Nimesh: Who took the initiative to clean the stuff and take the first action.
2. The Supporter – Shaurya: Who stood unconditionally with the leader and gave him required reinforcement.
3. The Contributor – Aahaan: Who saw the opportunity to add value to the good cause and started putting right actions.
4. The Appreciator – Kartikey: As a spectator, he provided moral support and happily enjoyed the work and he showered all praise.
5. Finally, The Promoter – Ronil: He didn’t do much but was happy to let others know about the good work, no ulter motives just a good friend to all!
It was a great experience to see the good work finally done by the joint efforts and now we see the wall clean as before.
Please join me in congratulating these kids for their causeless contribution to the club of “Real Life Heroes”. Kids, you taught me what I almost forgot.
Well done!!
